Hood 94, Penn State-Harrisburg 51
Nov 17, 2007

CARLISLE, Pa. — Four starters netted double figures as the Hood College men's basketball team (1-1) rolled to a 94-51 victory over the Penn State Harrisburg Lions Saturday in the consolation final of the Dickinson College Tip-Off Tournament.

A sparkling first half saw Hood shoot 53.5 percent from the field which translated into 54 first-half points, matching the most efficient offensive production by the Blazers since a 54-point second half against King's Point at the Washington & Lee Tournament last December.

The Lions connected on just one field goal over the first 12:45 of the contest. Meanwhile the hot-shooting Blazers mounted a commanding 33-6 advantage and led 54-14 at halftime.

The two squads nearly matched field goals in the second half but the Blazers maintained the upper hand throughout the rest of the contest.

Junior Ryan Junghans led all scorers with 22 points, including four three-pointers, and was Hood's representative on the all-tournament team. Senior Jesse Gutekunst finished with his second consecutive double-double with 13 points and 21 rebounds, one shy of tying his school record. His 21 caroms set a new Dickinson College Tournament single-game record, eclipsing the previous mark of 18.

Freshman Mark McGlone hit 4-8 from the floor for 12 points to go along with four assists while sophomore Nick Scott chipped in 10 points and also dished out four assists.

Hood outrebounded the Lions by 27 and set a school record with 67 total rebounds, shattering the previous record of 59 against Framingham State in the program's second season.

The Blazers return to action Tuesday hosting the Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays in the first round of the Provident Bank Pride of Maryland Tournament at Gov. Thomas Johnson High School. Tip is slated for 7 p.m.
